It is about so-called hentai, drawn series often with illustrations of undressed and sexualized young girls, something that is commonly found in Japanese culture.

SVT's review has found 24 such books that have been categorized as children's books and marketed to young people in Akademibokhandeln's online store – by mistake.

The books have been misclassified in the bookstore chain's distribution system, according to Bokusgruppen which operates Akademibokhandeln.

"What has happened is very unfortunate. It is an enormous amount with approximately 13 million titles. In this work, manga titles were initially incorrectly placed in the children's category", says Bokusgruppen's marketing and communications manager Cecilia Helsing in a written comment to SVT.

According to the company, the error was discovered in June and only nine copies of the titles in question have been sold.
