The message was delivered by the host himself during Thursday's recording.
Next year will be our last season. The TV company is shutting down "The Late Show" in May.
This is the end for "The Late Show" on CBS. I will not be replaced, everything just disappears, said Colbert.
CBS parent company Paramount calls the message about the shutdown a "financial decision".
It is in no way related to the show's performance, content or anything else that is happening at Paramount, the company states according to CBS News.
The program has been led by Stephen Colbert since 2015, when he took over after talk show legend David Letterman.
