The award-winning songwriter Alan Bergman is dead, the family announces. He became 99 years old.
Bergman wrote together with his wife Marilyn, who passed away in 2022, among other things the lyrics to several Oscar-winning numbers.
The couple won the award for best song for "The windmills of your mind" with Noel Harrison from the film "The Adventurer Thomas Crown" (1968) and "The way we were" with Barbara Streisand from the film "Our Best Years" (1973). The Streisand musical "Yentl" (1983) resulted in a third Oscar, for best film music.
The list of merits also includes several Emmys and Grammys.
