We have reached the end of the road and it feels sad. Part of this is that we can't manage to run the whole thing with only voluntary forces. We have been perceived as a professional organization, but actually we haven't been that all these years, says sports manager Fredrik Tågsjö to Helsingborgs Dagblad.

One of the major reasons for the economic difficulties, and thus the termination of the elite initiative after the season, is the reduced elite support and the increased rent.

The final blow was when the municipality (Ängelholms municipality) in January reduced our elite support by over 50 percent. Moreover, they have increased the hall rent by over 90 percent, continues Tågsjö.

The club is one of Sweden's most successful on the women's side and has taken eight Swedish Championship gold medals during the 2000s. The latest came in 2023.

It is also the club that has fostered Sweden's, and one of the world's, best volleyball players Isabelle Haak.

Engelholm is fourth in the elite series with three matches left to play. The top eight teams advance to the playoffs.
