"A folder with evidence has now been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) which will decide whether charges should be brought", announces the London police.
"As part of the investigation, a man between 40 and 50 years old has been questioned by the police on three separate occasions", the police continue, adding that it concerns a number of non-recent sexual offenses.
It was in a joint investigation by The Sunday Times and Channel 4 that four women came forward in September 2023, alleging that the actor had sexually assaulted them in the UK and Los Angeles over a seven-year period, between 2006 and 2013.
Brand, 49, has denied the alleged assaults and claimed that the accusations against him are false and that the interactions in his relationships "have always been consensual".
"We have a team of dedicated investigators providing specialist support to the women who have come forward", says Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy in a statement, adding:
"We are firmly committed to investigating sexual offenses, no matter how long ago they are alleged to have taken place."
