In "The Last Butterfly" Nima Hasan portrays life as the bombs are falling.
She writes "right in the middle of ongoing air raids and drone attacks, while the tanks are rolling by on the other side of the tent fabric”, writes her translator Jasim Mohamed in a press release. Mohamed, born in Iraq and resident in Uppsala, saw Nima Hasan's poems on social media and translated them from Arabic to Swedish.
This is the first time the poems are published in book form. The Swedish translation is an original work and the selection has been made in close collaboration with the author.
The contact between the author and the translator Jasim Mohamed took place via a very unstable connection, she in Gaza's tent camp and he in Uppsala.
"The Last Butterfly" will be released on September 12 by Albert Bonniers publishing house.
