So crazy, says influential podcaster Joe Rogan.

He (Trump) campaigned on "no more wars," to end these stupid, pointless wars. And now we have one that we can't even explain why we got into.

Rogan, whose podcast has tens of millions of listeners on Spotify and YouTube, supported Trump's candidacy in 2024 and is considered to have contributed to his victory. But in this week's episode, he states that supporters feel "betrayed" by the president over the Iran war.

The statement comes as recent opinion polls show that support for another American war in the Middle East is low. Just over a quarter of Americans are in favor of the attacks, according to a poll conducted by Ipsos for Reuters.

Evil?

The questions have been many since US and Israeli bombers took off against Iran two weeks ago: Is a "real" war underway and is it constitutional? Why is the president, who has promised to put America first and avoid costly wars, focusing on Iran?

"Utterly disgusting and evil," Tucker Carlson, the influential and usually Trump-loyal former Fox News host, said of the war in an interview with ABC.

It will turn the situation upside down in a revolutionary way.

Amy Walter, editor-in-chief of the independent Cook Political Report, draws a similar conclusion.

"What Americans are asking for is for the president to declare war on food prices - not Iran," she tells NBC.

At the same time, articles have been published about how skyrocketing gas and food prices are affecting voters - who in survey after survey cite the economy as the most important issue.

“Didn't win enough”

In November, the US will hold midterm elections for Congress. The Republicans currently have a majority in both chambers and it is crucial for Trump that they remain. In recent days, he has held mass rallies about the economy and claimed that the Iran war “will soon be over.”

"We've already won. But we haven't won enough," he said recently, according to Axios.

Trump loyalists, such as UN Ambassador Mike Waltz, praise the war decision and emphasize that Tehran was close to developing nuclear weapons, which posed a threat to the United States.

The tone in Congress is infectious. Senate Democrats are promising to use “every means available” to get Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to come and answer questions about the war.

Congress is the federal legislative assembly of the United States, based in the Capitol in the capital, Washington, D.C. Its work runs in two-year terms - the 119th Congress session began on January 3, 2025.

Congress consists of the Senate, with 100 members, two from each state, and the House of Representatives, with 435 seats apportioned by population.

In the Senate, Republicans hold 53 of the seats. South Dakota Senator John Thune is the majority leader and New York Democrat Chuck Schumer is the minority leader.

In the House of Representatives, Republicans have 218 seats, Democrats have 214, and three are vacant. Mike Johnson is the Speaker and Hakeem Jeffries is the Minority Leader.

Congress enacts federal laws, decides on taxes and appropriations, and approves the federal budget (whose fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 30). Congress also reviews and approves cabinet members and other high-ranking officials - and can remove federal officials, including the president and judges, through impeachment.
