Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was stopped in a car near his clothing store on Melrose Street, suspected of possessing a firearm as a convicted criminal. But now Soulja Boy is free from custody due to lack of evidence, confirms a spokesperson for the prosecution.
The rapper behind hits like ”Crank that (Soulja Boy)”, ”Turn my swag on” and ”Kiss me thru the phone” celebrated on Tuesday by showing off his jewelry and rapping the words ”first day out” for his Instagram followers.
LA Times notes that the release gives the rapper some breathing room after he recently had other legal problems. Most recently, in April, a jury in Santa Monica found Soulja Boy guilty of sexual assault as well as physical and psychological abuse of a former assistant, and the jury decided that Soulja Boy should pay her more than 43 million kronor in damages.
