The case concerns a money transaction in 2011 of two million Swiss francs (nearly 23 million kronor in today's exchange rate) that took place between the then top football officials.
The duo was acquitted of the charges in 2022, but the verdict was appealed to a Swiss court.
During the proceedings, the prosecutors have demanded 20 months' conditional imprisonment for the two, as well as fines, but when the verdict came on Monday, Blatter and Platini were acquitted.
Platini, who was then the chairman of the European Football Association (Uefa), has consistently claimed that he received the money for consultancy services he performed for the International Football Federation (Fifa). The consultancy services were approved by Sepp Blatter, who was then Fifa's chairman.
After the corruption allegations became known in 2015, the two were forced to leave their positions.
Believe me, going from being a legend in world football to being seen as a devil has been very difficult, said Frenchman Platini, who won, among other things, the European Championship in 1984, when the first verdict came in 2022, according to the news agency NTB.
