The alarm about the fire came at 13.30 on Tuesday afternoon. Residents of the house and a preschool in the property were evacuated.
The fire brigade has been on site with a large number of units since then and the plan is to ensure that the fire remains on the roof.
It is in the attic that it is burning. We are working to limit it there but let it burn out, says rescue leader Christopher Hoff to GP.
According to the rescue service, the smell of smoke can be felt in large parts of central Gothenburg. People who feel discomfort from the smoke are urged to go indoors and close windows, doors and ventilation.
No person is reported to have been injured.
