Sweden's National Team Captain Hospitalized with Acute Infection

Sweden will face Germany in the group stage of the European Championship in basketball in Finland. Now their national team captain Álex Mumbrú has been taken to hospital in Tampere as he has been affected by an acute infection.

This is announced by the German association on its website.

Germany enters the tournament against Montenegro on Wednesday. Then they will have to manage without Mumbrú on the sidelines, who is instead replaced by assistant coach Alan Ibrahimagic. According to the association, the Spaniard is on the road to recovery, but it is still unclear when the 46-year-old will be able to join the team again.

Sweden also starts the European Championship on Wednesday evening when they face the host nation Finland. Then Germany awaits on Friday.
