In October 2024, after nearly two years without playing, Oscar Möller announced that the skates would be hung on the shelf, after ten seasons in Skellefteå AIK.
Möller, who has won two Swedish Championship gold medals and also a World Championship bronze with Sweden, had been affected by burnout syndrome.
Now he is back in hockey contexts again and has landed a new job as an expert on TV4.
Recovered
I'm feeling very good today. Otherwise, I wouldn't be doing this kind of thing, he says and continues:
I don't think I'll be talking about that particular thing on TV. Then we'll see. It may come up in situations where it's mentioned. But I'm there to talk about hockey. I'll talk about what the audience wants to hear.
After having jumped in as a guest expert last season, the former forward is taking the step to become one of TV4's regular experts.
It's like when you're going to go in and play a game. It's exciting, you focus. You can laugh, joke, warm up. Then when it's time to go on the ice, or rather "on air", you have to go in and do a good job.
"Know nothing"
Möller feels a hype around Swedish hockey, which he looks forward to continuing to be a part of.
Hockey has become really good in Sweden. Above all in the Swedish Hockey League. The level has been raised a lot. Those who come here from other countries and play must understand that it's a high level for all players.
What the former forward will contribute to on screen feels obvious.
I can talk about goal scoring and offensive thinking. Together with Joel (Lundqvist). We are the only forwards in the lineup. Then there are only defenders and goalies. They know nothing about that, he says.
The Swedish Hockey League season starts on September 13. Luleå is the reigning champion.
