Middle six Anna Lagerquist injured her cruciate ligament in February last year and was forced to undergo an operation. This meant that the 31-year-old missed both the Olympic Games and the European Championship last year.

In the spring, she made a comeback in the Hungarian top club Györi and was involved in winning the Champions League title. Now she is selected for double training matches against Hungary in September.

She plays in the world's best club team at the moment and I have also had a good dialogue with her during the injury break and rehabilitation. I have received the message that she is motivated to make a national team effort during this season, says national team coach Tomas Axnér when he presented the squad.

Also middle nine Jenny Carlson is in the squad. Carlson was clubless for a while after Bundesliga champions Ludwigsburg applied for bankruptcy. Now she has signed with Norwegian Molde.

Very nice that it was resolved after the turmoil in Ludwigsburg. It's a good Norwegian club she has come to, says Axnér.

National team goalkeeper Johanna Bundsen suffered the same fate, but recently signed with French Metz.

The national team's big goal for the season is the World Championship on November 29 - December 14 in the Netherlands and Germany. Sweden plays the initial group stage in Dortmund.
