A man suffered a heart attack in the stands when Wednesday's Champions League match between Bayern München and Benfica had begun.
It was almost completely silent in the stands throughout the entire match and an hour after the final whistle came the news that the man had died on the way to the hospital.
The man received care in the stands for half an hour before being taken away by ambulance, but his life could not be saved.
It's hard to talk about football right now. We didn't celebrate as usual after the match, said home coach Vincent Kompany after the 1–0 win.
The Bayern München fans at Allianz Arena chose to refrain from supporting their team with singing throughout the entire match, writes the German newspaper Bild.
