Loss with 1–2 in Tuesday evening's away return played no role. After the big win with 5–0 at home last week, Bodø/Glimt is now in the European football's finest rooms.
It's incredibly nice, we have worked hard and long to get to the finest tournament. Now that we are there, it's completely well-deserved and fantastic to do it with this gang, says star Patrick Berg to TV2.
Unexpected successes
The team has made a success in recent years and has made several unexpected performances. Among other things, Bodø/Glimt won against the Italian giant club Roma in the Europa Conference League group stage with 6–1 in the 2012-2022 season. The same year, the Norwegian team reached the quarterfinals in the tournament, where they also met Roma, but then lost with a total of 2–5.
Last season, Bodø/Glimt went all the way to the semifinals in the European League. Then the Norwegians lost to English Tottenham with 1–5.
Has 43,000 inhabitants
Many have been surprised by the northern Norwegian team's success, as the city of Bodø has around 43,000 inhabitants and is an Arctic city (above the Arctic Circle) and therefore should not have the climate to have such a successful football club.
When they now step into the Champions League group stage, Bodø/Glimt will be the northernmost team ever to play in the tournament, and the first team from an Arctic city.
