Latest, two years ago, Ebba Årsjö left the World Championship with four gold medals and her dominance in the pistes has continued since then.
On Saturday, Årsjö initiated this year's World Championship in Maribor by once again demonstrating her superiority.
The 24-year-old grabbed a gold grip already in the first run, where she was almost two seconds faster than Chinese second-place Mengqui Zhang. But it looked a bit scary when Årsjö got problems at the end of the run and seemed to be close to going off course in the last gates.
Haha, yeah, I was really out there. My family said they screamed and almost got a heart attack, says Årsjö to TT.
In the second run, Årsjö more than doubled the distance to Zhang and eventually won with a 4.30-second margin. Audrey Crowley, USA, took the bronze – more than nine seconds behind Årsjö.
Earlier in the week, both the super-G race and the combination were cancelled due to lack of snow in the Slovenian ski resort.
Really fun with a gold and not least considering all the circumstances around the weather, it's been a long wait and a bit gloomy atmosphere. At the same time, it was a forced break that I actually needed, I've been tired in my leg, says the Swede after the gold.
Next up for Ebba Årsjö is the slalom on Tuesday, also an event where she is the reigning World Champion.
