Earlier in the week, over 40 people were killed in Pakistani airstrikes against four targets in Afghanistan, according to the Taliban regime. The purpose was to destroy a training facility and kill rebels.
The Defense Department states that the attacks were directed against targets linked to those who "organized and coordinated the attacks". They have not disclosed whether there are any injured or how the attacks were carried out.
According to sources for Hurriyet Daily News, 19 Pakistani military personnel and three Afghan civilians were killed, reports AFP. At the same time, security sources for AP report that a Pakistani paramilitary was killed and seven others injured in clashes at the border.
No one from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry has commented on the attacks.
The conflict in the border area has escalated recently, but has been a latent hotspot since the Taliban took power in Kabul in 2021.
