Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj now seems to officially confirm reports of an alleged Ukrainian drone attack over the weekend against a Russian airfield in the Murmansk region.
A Ukrainian intelligence source stated on Saturday to Ukrainian media that they had damaged a Russian bomber plane at the Olenya airfield, about 180 miles north of Ukraine's border, and about 15 miles from Finland.
I also want to commend our fighters who have demonstrated Ukraine's long-distance capability", says Zelenskyj in his evening speech and adds:
Precision at a distance of nearly eighteen hundred kilometers from our border. Very significant! Thank you for that.
The attack has not been officially confirmed in any other way, nor has it been commented on by Russia.
However, the reports were commented on by Finland's President Alexander Stubb on Saturday, who said he had been in contact with Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M). Kristersson wrote in a comment via his press department that he "shares Finland's President's basic message that there is no reason to worry. We have war in our neighborhood and we are following the development very closely."
