World Championship center misses CHL-start

Färjestad's World Championship center Linus Johansson will probably have to rest when the Champions Hockey League starts this week. It's not quite as it should be yet. I hope for next week, says the injured star.

The Färjestad captain is not training with the team, but instead has intense individual sessions with skating for the time being.

Linus Johansson has not played a match since he broke off the preseason meeting with Leksand in Strömstad almost two weeks ago.

He says he does not feel any worry:

No, I don't. I'm trying to think that you have to do what you can in the situation. Nice to be able to skate a lot and get strong in my legs and lungs.

Neither does Czech star and World Championship gold medalist David Tomasek seem to be able to play in the CHL opening where Färjestad plays away against Lahtis (on Friday) and then home against Klagenfurt (on Sunday).

Skellefteå starts with two away matches against Salzburg (Friday) and Straubing (Sunday) and lacks then SM gold goalie Linus Söderström, who has started training again after an injury but is not ready for a match. Skellefteå has called home loaned goalie Alexander Hellnemo from Nybro to support Gustaf Lindvall.

Växjö is the third Swedish team in the CHL and has double home matches, against Eisbären Berlin (Thursday) and Sheffield (Saturday).

The SHL season starts on September 21.
