A pharmacy has been reported to Lex Maria for serious healthcare injury after a woman received eight times the recommended dose of a morphine-like medication.
The 86-year-old woman ended up in hospital a few days later with a femoral fracture and was anaesthetized for surgery, according to Svensk Farmaci. She then developed respiratory problems due to the high doses of the medication but survived.
The Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Ivo) has investigated the case and decided not to take any further action since the pharmacy has now investigated the incident.
