Stockholm Stock Exchange Glitch Causes Trade Cancellations

Technical problems at the Stockholm Stock Exchange led to extreme price movements being displayed in the final trading on Tuesday. The mess leads, among other things, to all stock trades during the last half hour being withdrawn, reports Dagens industri.

The cancellation of trading between 5 pm and 5:30 pm means that "it can get messy for the back-office to sort out tomorrow", notes Ålandsbanken's stock exchange manager Lars Söderfjell in Di. He points out that many trades are made during the last half hour of the stock exchange's opening hours.

The technical glitch resulted in wild price fluctuations in the closing trade. Among other things, it seemed as if the share in the medical technology company Asker Healthcare soared almost 30 percent and that the steel giant SSAB plummeted over 27 percent.

Work is underway to resolve the issue and we expect to open as usual tomorrow, says a spokesperson for the stock exchange operator Nasdaq Nordic to the news agency Bloomberg.
