A man in his 65s is being prosecuted for unlawful threats after he wrote on the platform X that he would give Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (The Moderate Party) ”a slap in the face”, reports Aftonbladet with reference to the news agency Sirén.

It was in August 2023 that the man threatened to give Maria Malmer Stenergard a ”slap in the face”. She was then Minister for Migration. The threat came shortly after the government had proposed introducing a duty to inform for government employees.

The man has admitted to the publication but is said to have stated during the interrogation that he did not want to scare the minister. The trial is expected to take place in November.
