Vonn crashed out – second week in a row

It's not going well for alpine skiing queen Lindsey Vonn in the World Championship. During the downhill race in German Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the 40-year-old crashed out for the second week in a row.

Vonn was on her way to a decent placement, but with only a few gates left to the finish, the American lost her track and missed a gate, which meant disqualification.

Since her comeback, Lindsey Vonn has at best achieved a fourth place in super-G and a sixth place in downhill.

Vonn's run was delayed for about half an hour after Nina Ortlieb crashed out in a frightening way.

The Austrian made the same mistake as Vonn, but failed to stay on her feet. Instead, she slid helplessly into the safety net.

At first, it looked like it was going to be okay, but after a while, her legs gave way in an unpleasant manner, and Ortlieb screamed out in pain. After receiving care on the slope for a while, she was then taken down on a stretcher, and later by helicopter, writes AFP.

The winner was Federica Brignone, Italy.
