The American stock exchanges ended in the plus after the best trading week of 2024.
Both the broad S&P 500 index and the Dow Jones industrial index and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose by 0.2 percent each.
Several reports during the week contributed to the optimism on Wall Street, ranging from lower inflation to increased sales in retail and strong consumer confidence in growth.
Among the winners among the major technology companies were Nvidia, which rose by 1.4 percent on Friday and over 17 percent during the week. Apple and Tesla also rose on Friday, by 0.6 and 0.9 percent, respectively.
Among the losers was the global packaging company Amcor, whose revenues decreased by seven percent over a year. The stock fell by 3.7 percent.
Calculated over the entire past week, the S&P 500 rose by 3.8 percent, the Dow Jones by 2.8 percent, and the Nasdaq by 5.0 percent.
