In late January, the government presented a support package worth 13.5 billion kronor. The package includes, among other things, combat boats, trucks, and anti-tank robots.
On the eve of the three-year anniversary of the Russian war of aggression, the government announces that air defense systems worth 1.2 billion kronor will be donated to Ukraine, writes Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M), Minister of Energy and Industry Ebba Busch (KD), and Minister of Education Johan Pehrson (L) in a debate article in Svenska Dagbladet.
The funds are part of the support package presented earlier in January.
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration is tasked with purchasing the air defense systems to be donated to Ukraine. Furthermore, Sweden will, through international cooperation, donate "air defense robots of a type that Ukraine already uses, as well as air defense weapons that individual soldiers can carry".
"Overall, what is now being donated will strengthen the protection of both Ukraine's military and population, as well as civilian infrastructure", write the article authors.
