A woman sought help for her stomach problems several times. Despite this, the health center did not conduct a proper investigation.
The woman had problems with gas in the intestines and also had a hereditary predisposition to intestinal cancer.
It took two years before healthcare discovered that the woman had colon cancer that had spread. It was discovered when the woman sought help at the health center with such severe pain that she could not stand it. She was sent to the emergency department and received the diagnosis, reports Läkartidningen.
Less than half a year later, the woman died.
The Inspectorate for Health and Care criticizes the health center on several points. The healthcare did not investigate the suspicions of cancer sufficiently effectively, the information between the staff was inadequate and the examination was incomplete.
