A 40-year-old woman is suspected of having tied up her 4-year-old son's legs to get him to calm down – now she is being prosecuted at Skaraborg District Court for unlawful coercion and alternatively harassment, reports Nya Lidköpings-Tidningen.

The incident, which is said to have been repeated on several occasions, is alleged to have taken place in a small town in Lidköping Municipality during the first half of 2024.

The whole thing was revealed when the 4-year-old's brother told his teacher that things were chaotic at home. It soon emerged that the mother had subjected her son to degrading treatment.

The woman, who denies the crime, is also being prosecuted for child abuse as the boy's siblings are said to have witnessed the events.

”It was a long time ago. Not to hurt him, but to get him to calm down. He opened it himself, it wasn't tight, because I didn't want it to hurt, I'm not a mean mom,” the woman says in the interrogation according to NLT.
