A woman and two children have died after a fire broke out in an apartment in Karlskrona on Sunday, according to the police.

Another child was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

It was at 12:30 on Sunday that the rescue service was alerted that flames were coming out of a window in a residential building.

A couple of minutes after the alarm, the rescue service was on site at the fully developed fire. The rescue service began smoke diving and helped the four people out of the apartment.

What caused the fire is still unclear. The case is classified as suspected arson, and currently, there are no suspects.

We are still on site and continue to conduct witness interviews, says police spokesperson Fredrik Bratt.

The police will conduct a forensic investigation of the site.

It will try to determine what happened on site, how the fire may have started, and the sequence of events to get as broad a picture as possible, says Fredrik Bratt.

Roughly two hours after the first alarm, the fire was completely extinguished. Only one apartment is reported to have been affected by the fire.
