Despite the festive atmosphere, there was no successful conclusion to the home tournament in Södertälje for the Swedish team.

After an initial loss to the Czech Republic, followed by a win over Switzerland, the Damkronorna hockey tournament ended against Finland. And it was the eastern neighbors who emerged victorious.

Two power play goals paved the way for a 2-0 lead before the final period, which would prove to be enough. With just over eleven minutes left to play, Hanna Thuvik finally managed to score against the Finnish goalkeeper Salla Sivula, giving Sweden a glimmer of hope.

But just three minutes later, another setback hit coach Ulf Lundberg and Co. Noora Tulus scored 3-1 for Finland, which also became the final result.

What is naturally frustrating is that we don't score on all these scoring opportunities. The feeling was still that patience would pay off and that those who were hot would eventually score. But not today, says Ulf Lundberg to SVT.

Thus, Sweden finishes third in the Euro Hockey Tour tournament, ahead of bottom-placed Switzerland. The winner was the Czech Republic, which took three straight wins.

The next tournament for Damkronorna takes place on December 9-15 in Finland.
