The world's perhaps most famous pair of shoes – the red glittering shoes worn by Judy Garland in the film "The Wizard of Oz" – are for sale.
In 2005, the current pair was stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Minnesota, but they were returned in 2018. It is the shoes' current owner, Michael Shaw, a memorabilia collector who had lent them to the museum, who is selling them.
However, the shoes are not unique – they are one of a total of four pairs of red pumps worn by Garland in the role of Dorothy in the 1939 film.
They are being auctioned off by an auction firm in Dallas and have an estimated value of 3.5 million dollars, equivalent to approximately 37 million kronor.
Other props from "The Wizard of Oz" are also for sale at the same auction, including a hat worn by Margaret Hamilton in the role of the wicked witch and a door from "Dorothy's" home in Kansas.
