Combs has been imprisoned since he was charged in September last year and will remain in custody until the verdict and sentence are announced on October 3.

Combs was charged with forcing girlfriends to have sex with male escorts while he watched and filmed what has been described in court as "freak-offs", parties with drugs and sexual elements.

He was acquitted in July of the more serious charges of human trafficking and extortion, but was convicted of two cases of prostitution-related crimes.

In the rejection of Combs' request for bail of 50 million dollars, the judge said that the 55-year-old had not proven that he did not pose a flight risk or danger, and had not shown an "exceptional circumstance" that would justify release.

The two crimes for which he was convicted can give a maximum of 10 years in prison each, but his lawyers have in their submissions to the court emphasized that the sentence can be as short as 21 months.
