SvFF chief on criticism: "We take everything to heart"

A storm is brewing in the Swedish Football Association following the newspaper Offside's scrutiny, where current and former employees are directing harsh criticism towards the work environment and the association's leadership. We take all criticism to heart, says Secretary General Andrea Möllerberg.

It is clear that we are worried and understand that there is disappointment. Our goal is for everyone working at the Swedish Football Association to feel good and have confidence in us and enjoy being there. So it is clear that we take this very seriously, says Möllerberg at a hastily convened press conference during the national team gathering in Azerbaijan's capital Baku.

She feels that she has continued confidence from the board.

I feel that I have great confidence in them and they in me, and as long as we have that, we will continue to work together.

Leadership criticized

It was at the end of August that Offside published a major investigation into the dissatisfaction with the Football Association's new leadership with Möllerberg at the helm.

Among other things, it emerged that the latest employee survey showed a historically low value on the question of whether employees would recommend the employer to others.

The Association's work environment ombudsman Anneli Gustafsson tells Offside that she has received around 15 cases in the past six months and that employees do not have confidence in their immediate supervisors or the HR department.

The criticism is primarily directed at Andrea Möllerberg, Chairman Fredrik Reinfeldt, and football manager Kim Källström.

"Want to encourage everyone"

Isn't it ominous for you as the highest-ranking official that such sharp criticism comes through the media, shouldn't it be high enough in the ceiling to be able to express criticism internally and get a hearing?

It is my goal, the leadership group's goal, and the association board's goal that it should be high enough in the ceiling, but it's also tough when you feel worried and can't muster the energy to get through it. I really want to encourage everyone to express criticism, if you don't want to go to your immediate supervisor, there are others, so that it reaches all the way to me so that we can work on these issues, says Möllerberg.

My hope is that you can come to me about anything.
