The purpose of an energy system is to have access to as much electricity as needed, at the best possible price. The government has started at the wrong end, she says to TT.
The proposal involves four to five large-scale reactors for 400 billion kronor. The state will cover 75 percent of the cost in the form of loans. At the same time, the nuclear power companies will be guaranteed a purchase price of 80 öre per kilowatt-hour. If the electricity price is below, the state will top it up; if it's above, the companies will instead pay into the state.
This will become very, very expensive for the Swedish people. I think it's better for the government to take a step back, says Andersson.
She emphasizes that the S is open to new nuclear power, not least small modular reactors.
Such a discussion should begin with broad talks in the Riksdag about a new energy policy agreement.
