The police shot at threatening man in Tierp

The police have fired warning shots and live rounds at a threatening man in Tierp municipality. The man has now been arrested.

At lunchtime on Sunday, the police were alerted that a man was behaving threateningly. When the police arrived, the man became aggressive towards them and allegedly had some kind of weapon.

A situation arose where they first fired warning shots and then fired live rounds. The live rounds did not hit the person, says Magnus Jansson Klarin, press spokesperson for the police.

By 16.30, the man could be arrested.

We used, among other things, a distraction grenade during the arrest, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.

A distraction grenade is used to distract a person. Through multiple explosions, it sounds like a shootout.

The man is now suspected of, among other things, gross unlawful threats.

More charges will be added, says Jansson Klarin.

The police are working on interrogations and a search warrant at an address in the area.

No one was injured during the operation.
