”I have today summoned the Director-General of the Public Health Agency due to Magnus Gisslén's criticism. I have emphasized that high confidence in the agency is central, as well as the importance of utilizing medical expertise both within the agency and through expanded contacts with the scientific community”, writes Forssmed in a comment to TT.

He adds that the government has high demands on the agency's infectious disease control work and on the presence of relevant expertise.

”We have therefore made several reforms to strengthen infectious disease control, increase our pandemic preparedness and improve the Public Health Agency's work. That work continues.”

In a debate article in Dagens Nyheter Olivia Wigzell writes that the agency's work does not stand and fall with individual employees and that the agency has high medical expertise.

”In the event of a new pandemic, we are better equipped than we were five years ago, with the lessons from the covid-19 pandemic behind us.”
