A suspected dangerous object was found in the Markbacken district in western Örebro on Monday evening. A VMA was issued and one person has been detained, suspected of attempting general dangerous destruction.

At 19.55, the police were alerted to a residential area in Örebro after a suspected hazardous object was found at an apartment building.

The residents on the lower floors were evacuated while waiting for the National Bomb Protection and all residents in the area were urged to stay away from the windows. A VMA, important message to the public, was issued.

A person was quickly arrested and detained on Monday evening after questioning, suspected of attempting to cause general public destruction.

By midnight, the danger was considered over.

The National Bomb Protection is starting to finish and it seems that the object is safe to handle. I do not want to go closer to exactly what the object was, but they will take it with them and then a regular technical examination will be carried out during the night plus a crime search dog that goes through the area, says Anders Dahlman, press spokesperson at the police region Bergslagen.

At one o'clock at night, the residents could return to their apartments again.

Then the technicians were finished at the address, says press spokesperson Lars Hedelin.
