Early on Saturday morning, Netflix's Swedish Facebook page had almost 1,500 angry comments from viewers who missed the hyped boxing match due to the technical failure.
"Really annoying that you get kicked out all the time because you have so much pressure. If you're going to have such a big thing worth broadcasting live, you should actually make sure the broadcast works", writes a viewer.
Another one rages:
"Catastrophe! I've been a customer for many years, but now you've had your chances, this was the drop! Now I'm canceling my subscription and hope many more do, this has to hurt for you. You had one task, ONE task for this fight, and that was to ensure capacity so everyone could see the match".
The number of reported disruptions at Netflix in Sweden skyrocketed just before 5 am this morning, just a few minutes before the boxing match was about to start.
"Thanks Netflix! Sat and waited until 6 am to see a spinning red ring. I really hope we're enough people canceling your service so that the person responsible for your servers gets fired", writes an angry viewer.
Even from other parts of the world, major problems with Netflix's service are being reported.
According to the news agency AP and the trade magazine Variety, Netflix has not wanted to comment on the technical problems or their cause.
Several people now want compensation from the streaming giant:
"I'd like to see Netflix come up with an explanation and some form of compensation for this pretty soon. It feels like I've wasted a lot of time on nothing!", thinks one person.
The match between influencer Jake Paul and former boxing world champion Mike Tyson was broadcast live from Arlington, Texas, and is part of a new strategy from Netflix to focus more on live events. Later this winter, the streaming giant will broadcast American football from the NFL and wrestling.
