The traffic situation is still difficult in Jönköping where heavy rainfall during the afternoon has led to flooding. In central Jönköping, the E4 is closed and traffic has been diverted to smaller roads.

It is still closed in both directions between the traffic interchanges Ekhagen and Österängen where the rescue service is working to pump away water, says Camilla Nilsson, information officer at the rescue service.

Earlier, there was also a risk of landslides in the area of Huskvarna, and the E4 was temporarily closed in the southbound direction.

It was a slope that was about to give way, but the danger should be over now and the rescue service has left the scene, says Camilla Nilsson.

The rescue service is urging motorists not to venture out into traffic unless absolutely necessary.

"Traffic is being diverted right now, but there is no safe prognosis for when traffic will flow normally again. We have over 200 incidents related to the bad weather to handle in the county", says Samuel Nyström, rescue chief in Jönköping Municipality, in a press release.
