Lars Winnerbäck, Markus Krunegård, Melissa Horn, and Little Jinder are among the artists who will perform at a benefit gala for Teater Brunnsgatan Fyra in Stockholm.
The reason for the gala and the need for more money is that the rent for Brunnsgatan 4 has almost doubled, combined with renovation work and grants that are stagnant, according to the theater.
"On top of this, the ideological struggle about the form and existence of culture is intensifying. Do we want free performing arts in Sweden? Do we want to preserve Teater Brunnsgatan Fyra? If so, we must do it together," says the theater's artistic director Martina Montelius in a press release.
Amason is the host of the gala, which has been named Brunnsgalan and will take place on November 4. Other artists include Ellen Krauss, Alba August, Hannes, Esther, Jaqe, and Annika Norlin & Jonas Teglund.
The theater was founded in 1986 by actor Allan Edwall. After his passing in 1997, the theater was run by Kristina Lugn. Since 2011, it has been run by Lugn's daughter Martina Montelius.
