”The entire 'General Hospital' family is devastated over Tristan Rogers' passing, says the series' executive producer Frank Valentini in a statement, and continues:
”Tristan has captivated our fans for 45 years and Port Charles will never be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio)".
Rogers was born in Melbourne, Australia, 1946. He started as a drummer in a rock band, but when the band split up, he began with commercial work and modeling before he decided to try acting.
World Record
After roles in Australia, he moved to Los Angeles where he in 1980 initially got a two-day role in ”General Hospital”, which today is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest TV series still being produced, and as the world's third longest TV series of all time. In Sweden, the series was broadcast as ”The Hospital” during the 1990s, and for a short period around 2009.
The two days were extended and Rogers played the spy Robert Scorpio for twelve years and then in a number of recurring episodes.
Won Emmy
Scorpio became known for his relationships with Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), Rogers and Samms made their last joint appearance in November 2024 in scenes that nodded to the film classic ”Casablanca”. He returned briefly in July this year for an episode where it was revealed that he had lung cancer.
Aside from ”General Hospital”, Rogers appeared in, among other things, ”The Bold and the Beautiful” (which was called ”Glamour” on Swedish TV), ”The Young and the Restless” and ”Studio City”, where he won a Daytime Emmy.
