Jordan Peterson has a chronic disorder in the immune system that has worsened after he was "exposed to a particularly mold-infested environment". This according to his daughter Mikhaila Peterson, who writes on X that Jordan Peterson suffers from chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS). This as a result of genetic predispositions that according to Mikhaila Peterson make the "immune system unable to identify and detoxify mold or bacteria in indoor air".

Mikhaila Peterson writes that Jordan Peterson received the diagnosis after experiencing "severe symptoms" when he was exposed to mold during the cleaning of her grandfather's house.

According to Mikhaila Peterson, CIRS is behind several of her father's health problems and is the reason for cancelled events and his "general grumpiness". Mikhaila Peterson claims that a meat diet has helped her father keep the symptoms under control, but that it has not been enough lately.

CIRS is a disputed syndrome that some doctors link to mold, while several health authorities do not recognize it as an established diagnosis. The symptoms can be fatigue, cognitive problems, breathing difficulties and joint pain.
