The future of the Polar Music Prize is uncertain, according to information in the newspaper Dagens ETC. TV4, which has provided a large part of the financing for the Polar Music Prize gala, is pulling out – something that Marie Ledin, the Polar Music Prize's CEO confirms to Dagens ETC.
That TV4 will not be broadcasting next year, that's clear, says Bosse Wahlberg, who has been the producer for the gala for 15 years, to the newspaper.
The prize amount of 2 million kronor is financed through the return on Stikkan Andersson's donation, but the operation and the gala are at the same time dependent on sponsors who have been difficult to find, according to ETC which writes that the ongoing expenses have been greater than the revenues. Marie Ledin does not want to say anything about the prize's future.
We will get back to what will happen with the Polar Music Prize going forward, she says to ETC.
