The Swedish-Iranian filmmaker Maryam Moghaddam has had her Swedish passport confiscated by Iranian authorities and is not allowed to leave the country, according to a press release from Triart Film.
Moghaddam was on her way to Sweden to attend the film premiere of "A Little Piece of Cake", which she has directed together with Behtash Sanaeeha, but was stopped at the airport in Tehran.
She states this in the press release, where she also directs harsh criticism towards Iran's newly elected president Masoud Pezeshkian.
"You cannot lead a society towards growth and reforms through scorn and deceit, you drown it in the swamp of hypocrisy", she says.
The directors were also denied exit earlier this year, when "A Little Piece of Cake" was shown at the film festival in Berlin.
