A Swedish businessman who was convicted of rape in Hong Kong has now been sentenced to seven years in prison, writes South China Morning Post.
The 36-year-old man was convicted in August for raping his maid, a woman from Nepal, and threatening to kill her in October 2022.
The man denied the allegations during the trial and claimed that they had a relationship at the time and that there was consent for sex.
The man has been held in custody since the verdict was announced, and the presiding judge said then that the man should prepare himself for a "longer" sentence.
