The 36-year-old man is convicted of raping his housekeeper, a woman from Nepal, and threatening to kill her almost two years ago, according to the South China Morning Post.

The 36-year-old Swede denied the allegations during the trial and claimed that they had a relationship at the time and that there was consent for sex.

The Swede's defender has requested that a forensic psychiatric examination be conducted on his client before the court determines the sentence on November 11.

The presiding judge Derek Chan Ching-lung did not agree to release the Swede on bail and decided that the man should remain in custody and prepare for a "longer" sentence.
