I'm not going to review what he says, but I want to be very clear that it's extremely serious when another regime joins the unjust war that Russia is waging against Ukraine, says Maria Malmer Stenergard to TT.
According to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, around 3,000 soldiers from North Korea are in Russia and preparing for battle. He said this to a number of Nordic journalists when he visited the Nordic Council of Ministers' meeting on Iceland. The USA and NATO have also confirmed that North Korean forces have been sent to Russia to fight against Ukraine.
In Iceland, Zelensky also mentioned the importance of being able to use long-distance weapons donated by other countries in Russia to defend themselves – something that the USA has not yet agreed to. On X, the Ukrainian president expresses his hope that Sweden will influence other countries on the issue.
Sweden's only restriction on Swedish weapons donated to Ukraine is that they must be used in accordance with international law. However, Sweden will not try to influence other countries on the issue.
We are very clear that more support is needed for Ukraine. And that we have no restrictions, says Maria Malmer Stenergard.
But how each country handles its arms deliveries is up to them.
