A number of western governments, including USA, United Kingdom, France and Germany, condemned in a joint statement on Thursday "the growing number of state threats from Iranian intelligence services".

Iran is alleged to have attempted to murder, kidnap or harass dissidents, journalists and Jewish citizens in Western countries, according to the statement.

The country is cooperating to an increasing extent with international criminal organizations to target targets in countries in Europe and North America, the Western governments further write.

Iran dismissed the allegations on Friday. In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei described the claims as "baseless" and called them "an attempt to divert the public's attention from the most urgent issue at the moment – the genocide in occupied Palestine".
