After reaching an agreement with the USA, the German military will deliver additional Patriot launchers within the next few days. Furthermore, Germany will provide Ukraine with more components over the next two to three months, according to the German Ministry of Defence.
In exchange, Germany has agreed with the US Department of Defense to be the "first country" to receive rapid delivery of the next generation Patriot system.
Germany has already delivered three Patriot systems to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Friday that the announcement "once again shows that Germany is Ukraine's strongest supporter when it comes to air defence".
On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 31 people had been killed and 159 injured in a Russian air strike against Kyiv the day before.
Five children were among the dead, the youngest being two years old.
