A suspected hazardous object has been found on a balcony at a residential building in Sigtuna north of Stockholm. The National Bomb Squad was called to the scene and took the object with them.

It was a person who discovered an object that they wanted us to take a look at, says Mats Eriksson, press spokesperson for the Stockholm Police.

The police do not want to disclose what type of object it is.

We need to check if it's live or not. We assessed that the object could be taken from there to a safe location.

The alarm came in to the police at around 2 pm and no one has been injured.

The police will file a report on preparation for general destruction and a crime against the law on flammable and explosive goods. There are no suspects at present.

Now the National Bomb Squad will investigate the object. Then we will investigate why it ended up there and if there is any motive, says Mats Eriksson.
