Two women are sentenced to prison after stealing nine bank cards from patients and withdrawing nearly 100,000 kronor, reports Mitt i.

For several years, elderly patients were robbed of their bank cards while receiving care at Södersjukhuset hospital in Stockholm.

The police were finally able to identify a 40-year-old woman employed at the hospital as responsible for the thefts.

She allegedly handed over the cards and codes to a former colleague, who then withdrew the money, according to the newspaper.

Now both are convicted of gross fraud. The 40-year-old woman admitted to the thefts and is sentenced to one year and three months in prison.

The other woman denied the crime, but is also sentenced to one year and six months in prison.
